ZOOLOGICAL MUSEUM OF BOLOGNA

The original collection of the Zoological Museum is made up of the sixteenth-century collection by the naturalist Ulisse Aldrovandi and the collections from the Cospi and Marsili collections, which were assembled in the 18th century within the Institute of Science.

In recent years, the ethnological and malacological collections have been intensively increased and reorganized by scholars, while the ornithological collections, African trophies, dioramas, systematic collections of the most important animal groups and the Altobello collection include amphibians, reptiles and mammals.

It welcomes visitors to the great specimen of Moonfish (Mola mola) found on the coast of Romagna in the first half of the 40s and today exhibited in the great atrium of the Museum.
