The Nebrodi mountains: Waterfall Nicoletta and grotta di San Teodoro
La San Teodoro cave opens at 140 metres above sea level on the northern foothills of the imposing Rocky lace Castellaro, Mount San Fratello, about 2 km southeast of the town of Acquedolci.
Owes this name to the monks that around the year 1000 took refuge inside, fleeing from the East iconoclast.
The cave, formed following a Karst phenomenon that occurred roughly eight to ten million years ago, retains a very rich and very important documentation of the history of Sicily, extinct in terms of animal populations, and remains of prehistoric man.
