CRESPINA IN PISA
Crespina, a comune in the province of Pisa, from 1 January 2014 merged with Lorenzana to form the new municipality of Crespina Lorenzana.
Celebrates its Patron Saint Michael the Archangel on September 29.
The first news about Crespina amounted on August 16 983 and refer to the Bishop of Lucca, which was located in the castle of Santa Maria a Monte, (part III of the Volume V of the memoirs of Lucca), who writes the Radia "allivellò the goods of the parish church of S. Maria di Abiodun (now Valtriano) with the tithes due by the inhabitants of the parish, including villas you notice how in it pieve including villages of Crespina, Lari and of Perignano.
In 1115 the Centre came under the domination of Lucca to be occupied by the Pisans in 1165 and return ten years later under the domination of Lucca.
In the 13th century is permanently under Pisan being inserted into the Captaincy of lower Hills. In the various raids in Florence, in 1332 was demolished the fortress, the castle in 1405, after long siege was conquered by the troops of Florence.
In 1431-following violent rebellion-the castle was finally dismantled by Florence, meanwhile, had elected Charity at a town hall employee by the Vicariate of Lari.
XVII century it became a holiday resort of noble families and wealthy of Livorno and Pisa; and in the 19th century reached its splendour by building numerous villas, farms and hunting lodges.
He was home and site of important painters such as brothers Tabish, of which Ranieri Tempesti, clergyman and Rector of the Church of viewpoint from 1780 he executed frescoes in the rectory next to the Villa Belvedere where he died in 1819.

These residences became a meeting place for other artists less wealthy but guests at various times of the year like Giovanni Fattori, Silvestro Lega, Telemaco Signorini and many other macchiaioli as Cannicci and Cecconi.
In Crespina in 1911 was born, the painter-sculptor Anchises Peaks which was recently named a street, friend of Luigi Gioli.
