This is one of the first panoramic photographs of square, so no more drawings and paintings, but an actual photo. Refers to the view from the East, then top of the neighborhood Casalotto, in the mid-1800s.
On the far left of the unmistakable Aragonese castle Cathedral focus, between the two massive buildings other two large, one is a wing of the Jesuit College, where today there is the gymnasium of middle school "Cam" above the library, the other just over right the great Bell Tower of San Giovanni Evangelista.
To the right of the Cathedral Church and the belfry of St. Francis, below that of Saint Catherine and even below that of s. Veneranda. Left of the latter the great palazzo Trigona of Canicarao-Demani. In the background, on the left of the now disappeared port of Saint John the Baptist, the Church of Santo Stefano and immediately to its left on the top, the large home-College of Theatines.
On the right of the Church of s. Stefano la Commenda di s. Giovanni Battista. Even more to the right the large building of the theatre then called St. Mary's.
Featured le case del borgo Casalotto, centered on what was supposed to be the small castle in this area called Castle, headquarters of the urban militia of the Comarca.
